ד”ר שי פרבר הוא מרצה בכיר בפקולטה למשפטים, ומכהן כראש החוג למדיניות ציבורית, ממשל ומשפט.
תחומי ההתמחות האקדמיים שלו כוללים משפט פלילי, משפט ציבורי, ובפרט שילוב מערכות בינה מלאכותית בהליכים משפטיים.
מחקריו של ד”ר פרבר עוסקים בהשפעת טכנולוגיות מתקדמות על מערכות משפט פליליות, בניתוח משפטי של מאבק בטרור, בפיתוח כלים אמפיריים להערכת תפקוד מערכות שיפוטיות, ובבחינת האתגרים הנובעים מהטמעת בינה מלאכותית בתהליכי קבלת החלטות משפטיות.
בעבר שימש ד”ר פרבר כיועץ משפטי בפרקליטות הצבאית, וכיום הוא מכהן כשופט צבאי במערכת בתי המשפט הצבאיים (במילואים).
ד”ר פרבר פרסם למעלה מארבעים מאמרים בכתבי עת מובילים בארץ ובעולם, וחיבר שני ספרים העוסקים בתופעת ידיד בית המשפט (Amicus Curiae).
